I bought a large because I prefer clothing that's loose but the design of this is so big to start with a medium might have been fine. I kept it anyway because who knows how it might shrink after washing. This and another beach coverup are so beautiful that I'm wearing them as clothes when I go out. I did wear this to the beach, too. Fantastic quality and design.
